Our new paper in Stem Cell Reports focuses on ethical issues and communication challenges associated with the development of cell-based COVID-19 treatments. We detail our concerns about direct-to-consumer advertising of unproven “stem cell” therapies and explore how hyped scientific communication regarding COVID-19 cell-based interventions can be harmful to the general public. A collaborative effort with Leigh Turner from UCI, Aaron Levine from Georgia Tech, and Megan Munsie from the University of Melbourne.
